Share post:

When we talk about women in business, we often focus on the most high-profile women who have made their mark in the industry. However, there are countless other women who have made significant contributions to the fields of finance, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), but who may not have received the same level of recognition. It’s time to shine a spotlight on some of these trailblazing women who are breaking barriers and defying expectations in their respective fields.

One such woman is Kortney Murray, the CEO and co-founder of Coastal Kapital, a financing platform designed specifically for women in business. Murray has become a champion for gender diversity and women’s empowerment, and she shares her views in a chapter of the best-selling book “Women Gone Wild.” Murray is already a thought leader in equipment finance and is working tirelessly to encourage and promote greater opportunities for women in business.

Another woman who has made a significant impact in finance is Sallie Krawcheck, the CEO and co-founder of Ellevest. Krawcheck has been a champion for gender diversity in finance and has worked tirelessly to promote greater opportunities for women in the industry. She is also a prolific writer and commentator on finance and gender issues and is a sought-after speaker at conferences and events.

In STEM fields, there are also many inspiring women who are making their mark. One such woman is Dr. Sheila Widnall, a pioneer in aerospace engineering who was the first woman to serve as Secretary of the Air Force. Widnall earned her PhD from MIT and went on to become a professor of aeronautics and astronautics at the university. She has received numerous awards and accolades for her contributions to the field of aerospace engineering, and she continues to inspire and mentor future generations of women in STEM.

Another woman who has made a significant impact in STEM is Dr. Rosalind Franklin, a pioneering scientist who played a crucial role in the discovery of the structure of DNA. Despite her contributions to the field, Franklin’s work was often overlooked during her lifetime, and she did not receive the recognition she deserved until many years after her death.

Today, Franklin is remembered as a trailblazer in the field of genetics and a role model for women in science.

In the field of technology, there are also many women who are making a difference. One such woman is Kimberly Bryant, the founder and CEO of Black Girls Code, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to teaching computer programming to young girls of color. Bryant has been recognized for her work with numerous awards and accolades, and she is a sought-after speaker and commentator on issues of diversity and inclusion in tech.

Another woman who has made a significant impact in technology is Tracy Chou, a software engineer and diversity advocate. Chou is best known for her work on the “Tech Diversity Pledge,” a commitment that companies can make to increase the diversity of their workforces. She is also a vocal critic of the tech industry’s lack of diversity and has been featured in numerous publications and media outlets.

In conclusion, while we may recognize the achievements of high-profile women in business, finance, STEM, and technology, there are countless other women who are breaking barriers and defying expectations in these fields.

By shining a spotlight on these trailblazing women and recognizing their contributions, we can inspire and empower the next generation of female leaders to continue breaking barriers and defying expectations.
